The plain-English version.

Short, and written to be read. If anything here is unclear, ask us before you send a draft — hello@cleancopylab.com.

Refund Policy

Every project is covered by a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If the first pass is not right, tell us what missed and we will do another pass at no charge. If the second pass still is not right, we refund the project in full.

There is no form to fill in and no argument to have. Email hello@cleancopylab.com within [14 days] of delivery and say what was wrong.

Refunds are returned to the original payment method and usually appear within five to ten business days, depending on your bank.

Retainers can be cancelled at any time. We will not bill the following month, and any unused words in the current month are not carried over or refunded.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

When you submit the form we collect your name, email address, and the document you upload. If you continue to the second step we also collect your phone number, deadline, chosen service, and any notes you write.

If you create an account we store your email address and a cryptographic hash of your password. We never store your password itself and cannot read it.

What we do with it

We use it to quote your work, do the editing, and deliver it back to you. That is all. We do not sell your data, and we do not send marketing email unless you have asked for it.

Your document

Your draft is only ever seen by the editor working on it. We do not use client documents to train any machine-learning system, and we do not share them with anyone outside the editing team. An NDA is available on request before you send anything — just ask.

Who else touches your data

  • Stripe — if you pay us. Card details go to Stripe directly and never reach our server.
  • Tidio — the live chat widget, if you use it.
  • Google Fonts — serves the typefaces this site uses.
  • [HOSTING PROVIDER] — stores the site and the database.

How long we keep it

Finished projects and their documents are kept for [12 months] so you can ask for them again, then deleted. You can ask us to delete your document and your account at any time and we will do it within 30 days.

Cookies

This site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. It stores two things in your own browser: your light or dark theme preference, and, if you sign in, your login token. Neither is shared with anyone. The live chat widget sets its own cookies if you use it.

Your rights

You can ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@cleancopylab.com and we will respond within 30 days.

Terms of Service

What we do

Clean Copy Lab provides proofreading and copy editing. We correct errors and improve clarity. We preserve your voice — that is the point of the service. We do not write content for you, and we do not verify facts, citations, legal claims or figures unless you ask for that specifically and we agree in writing.

Quotes and payment

Work is priced per word at the rates published on the site, or by monthly retainer. You receive a firm quote before any paid work begins, and you are never billed for work you have not agreed to. Payment is due [on acceptance of the quote].

Turnaround

Standard turnaround is 48 hours for up to 5,000 words, measured from when we confirm the project, not from when you submit. Rush work is available by arrangement. If we are going to be late, we will tell you before the deadline, not after.

Your responsibilities

You confirm that you own the work you send us, or have permission to have it edited, and that it is lawful. We may decline work we consider unlawful, plagiarised, or intended to deceive.

Revisions

Every edit arrives in tracked changes, so you can accept or reject anything. One round of follow-up questions is included. Substantial new material added after we have started is a new project, quoted separately.

Limits

Editing is a judgement-based service. We do not guarantee publication, acceptance, sales, or any particular outcome. Our liability for any project is limited to the amount you paid for that project.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [STATE / COUNTRY].
